Stress Management Strategies Presentation–Tuesday, March 21, Pioneer Cafeteria

Most students experience some amount of stress, but when should you be worried about the stress you feel? What are good tools for coping with stress? How do you know when you might need more help to deal with the stress you feel? Parents and students, get the answers to these questions at the PTSO presentation, “Stress Management Strategies” on Tuesday, March 21, 7-8:30 pm in the Pioneer Cafeteria Annex. Dr. Bernard Biermann from the UM Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will present, along with students in our Peer 2 Peer program. Don’t miss this important presentation!

Did You Know?

stay informed

In an effort to keep parents informed of what’s going on at Pioneer, the announcements that are read to students during the school day are emailed out to parents and guardians once a week (usually on Thursday) through School Messenger.

These messages come from Deborah Anglin, who is Mr. Lowder’s secretary, and the subject line reads Pioneer High SchoolMessenger.  These announcements include information about upcoming events, deadlines and events for seniors, AP testing, outside opportunities for students, tutoring and academic assistance, and special announcements for parents and guardians. Students often report that it is difficult to hear the announcements when they are read during the school day, so having them in your email inbox can be helpful to them as well as to you.

This email may not arrive in your primary inbox, so be sure to look for them and change settings to make sure you receive them. There is no way to unsubscribe from this email, but it is easily deleted if you are not interested in the information.

We have so much to be proud of at Pioneer!

Are You Enrolled in the Grocery Programs? Sign Up Now!

The Pioneer PTSO Grocery Store Program provides a significant funding source for the Senior Bon Voyage Graduation Party that we sponsor every spring.
Participating stores donate a percentage of the sales from Pioneer families to the PTSO, and we would like to increase the number of participating families this year to help ensure the party is available to future graduating seniors.

Senior Bon Voyage Party Needs to Fill Leadership Roles

gradLooking for an opportunity to contribute your time and talents to Pioneer? Why not help out with the Senior Bon Voyage party? This fun annual event sends our seniors off with an all-night party full of surprises. For this event to continue, we need new leadership. We are looking to fill the following positions for THIS YEAR:

  • Chairperson-elect: Shadow this year’s chair to take over for the 2017 party.
  • Check-In Chair: Recruit and manage volunteers checking in students the night of the party.
  • Fundraiser Chair: We are hoping to keep costs down for students by having fundraisers throughout the year. This is a new position.
  • Treasurer: Pay vendors and manage finances for the party. Starts ASAP.

If you are interested in taking on one of these roles, or just want more information, contact party chair Lori O’Neil at
